This course was crafted by action acting legend Kirk Caouette and is designed for aspiring actors with a physical background in dance, Martial Arts, Acrobatics, Sports, or Fitness. Or any experienced, working actor who wants to take on more physical roles.
The Live Course Begins:
October 7 - 28, 2023. Four hours every Saturday afternoon.
Book a FREE Mentorship Call
with Kirk Caouette below to
determine if this course
is the right fit for you.
Knowing What Skills You Need: Many talented actors don’t know what type of training is required to be cast in an Action Actor role.
Missed Opportunities: Without the ability to seamlessly blend acting and physicality, actors miss out on roles that demand both.
Uncertain Future: Professional actors need to work consistently. Increase the amount of roles you book by having the skills to take on any situation.
Get ahead of the wave, not behind it.
The industry is changing and we must change with it. The goal of 'The Action Actor' is to prepare you for anything and shield you against the uncertainty of this evolving landscape.
We understand the industry's ebb and flow, and we're here to ensure you not only keep pace but lead the way. Our mission is simple yet profound: to empower you with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to thrive, regardless of the industry's direction.
Kirk has taught fight choreography to everyone from up-and-coming child actors to mega stars like Halley Berry, Kate Beckinsale, and Hugh Jackman. He also spent eight years volunteering his free time to teach fight choreography to the vast majority of the top fight/action performers in Western Canada.
A luminary in the entertainment industry — Kirk has performed and/or coordinated action for every Major Hollywood Studio. He has been featured in Movie Maker Magazine, The New York Times, Authority Magazine, Real West Digest, Vancouver View, The Vancouver Sun, The Province, Medium Magazine, and The National Post.
From pioneering wire-work as the Night Crawler stunt double in the groundbreaking opening scene of X-Men 2, to multiple awards and nomination in Directing, Acting and Original Score — Kirk is unmatched in the amount of industry expertise he brings to this course.
He has even been nominated for both ‘BEST ACTOR’ and ‘BEST STUNT’ in a Feature Film by UBCP/ACTRA — an industry recognition that no other performer has ever achieved.
Kirk recently took on the roles of Stunt Actor, Motion Capture Artist, and Additional Stunt Coordinator on the feature film ‘PREY’, which has garnered an incredible six Emmy nominations.
Beyond his accolades, Kirk Caouette is a beacon of compassion. He’s a mentor and advocate for nurturing new talent and was recognized for his efforts with the ’UBCP Sam Payne Humanity and Integrity Award’ in 2017.
A physical health and postural assessment, including recommendations for rehabilitation and modified training regimens if required.
Spread out over one month. Including 16 hours of choreography training, video analysis, 12 hours of homework, and one personal training session.
Where do you draw the line between Action Acting and Stunt Performing? Who decides this? How and when do you need to take responsibility for your own safety.
One of the worst characteristics to bring to a stunt rehearsal is to think you know more than you actually do. This is why it is so important to be taught by seasoned industry veterans and not someone with a handful of credits.
When you show up on set, you must know how and where you fit into the scene and the hierarchy of the set.
One of the biggest adjustments you will need to make is taking direction from two different people. The Director wants their vision and the Stunt Coordinator wants to achieve the Director’s vision while keeping everyone safe. You need to know how to navigate these dynamics if you want to become a true professional.
Like every sport there is specific training that goes into it. Whatever you fitness level, Action Actors must be able to move their bodies in unique ways and avoid injuries.
At the end of the course you will have the option (FREE of charge) to have your fight scene professionally shot on a green screen, edited, and scored.
It’s what you know and who you know. Have the opportunity to meet a hand picked selection of the industry’s top Union Certified Stunt Coordinators.
For most roles, the Stunt Coordinator
needs to approve you during the casting process.
Elevate your acting career by expanding your skills and contacts under the mentorship of one of the most prolific members of our industry.
